As part of the Ostrava 2015 project, the following building projects are planned:Black Meadow ClusterA city district connecting art, education and daily life The key investment activity of the Ostrava 2015 project. On the 20-hectare former brownfield of Black Meadow in the centre of the city, an “ideal city district” will emerge, a social-culture cluster with well-balanced social and ecological dimensions. The building programme of the cluster encompasses a concert hall, a municipal gallery – the city of Ostrava’s first exhibition hall – a preschool, elementary school and high school, the annex of an alternative stage for the Puppet Theatre, a creative incubator combined with a school of arts management, residential buildings, modifications to the park and revitalization of the banks of the Ostravice River. New VítkoviceThe project for the accessibility and new use of the national cultural monument of the Hlubina Mine and the blast furnaces and coking plant of the Vítkovice Ironworks (the so-called Lower Area of Vítkovice) The use of the key buildings and technical complex of the former production zone in the Lower Area of Vítkovice, a national cultural monument which was granted the European Heritage Label in 2008, for cultural, community and educational purposes. It is currently the largest urban renewal project in the Czech Republic, whose goal is to discover a new identity for this site. New building of the regional gallery in OstravaA gallery of fine art for the 21st century A new building for the Gallery of Fine Art in Ostrava, which is administered by the Moravian-Silesian Region, will be built by 2014. A new representational museum of art in the centre of the city will be one of the central points on a tourist map of the region. In addition to permanent expositions and short-term exhibition projects it will enable lifelong education and outreach activities in progressive genres of art. THE FACTORYA space for the young generation and progressive art THE FACTORY (TOVÁRNA) will create the conditions for young people to perceive and reflect upon art and to create their own art. It provides a space for experimentation, movement, work across media, development and cooperation. THE FACTORY will be the first institution of its kind in Ostrava. |
