Radovan Lipus

Radovan Lipus Member of the dramaturgical committee Radovan Lipus, a native of Třinec, studied directing at the Faculty of Theatre of the Prague Academy of Performing Arts (DAMU). After working briefly at the Činoherní klub theatre in Prague, in 1992 – 2008 he was a director at the National Theatre of Moravia-Silesia in Ostrava, and since 2008 he has been based at the Švandovo Theatre in Prague. He has also guested at the National Theatre in Prague, the Aréna Chamber Theatre (including a production of a revue of Ostrava’s unique local culture created together with the poet Petr Hruška), the Těšín Theatre, the National Theatre in Brno, the ABC Theatre, the Vinohrady Theatre, the Ostrava Puppet Theatre, and others. He has directed a popular television cycle presenting interesting and little-known examples of Czech urban architecture, co-authored with the architect David Vávra. He teaches at the University of Ostrava’s Faculty of Arts, where he is a member of the Faculty Academic Council, and at the Faculty of Theatre of the Prague Academy of Performing Arts (DAMU). He is a member of the Czech-Polish cultural forum of the Czech Republic Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is involved in research activities for the Academy of Performing Arts Basic Research Centre in Prague. He publishes prose and feuilletons (short observational pieces); among his publications are Scenology of Ostrava(KANT, Prague, 2006). He is a co-presenter of the programme Pains of a Coffee-House Layabout. Why should Ostrava be Capital of Culture 2015?
