Events connected with candidacy

In the relatively short period of its existence, Ostrava's candidacy project was behind the establishment of a whole spectrum of cultural events and permanent art works. It also sparked significant one-off events and participated in long-established events on the Ostrava cultural scene.

The Ostrava 2015 team has always understood culture in the broadest sense of the word - to include sporting events, such as Relay Run 2015, concerts, outdoor guerilla events and organized outings organized by the programming team of the Old Arena. Cultural events connected with the candidacy often were initiated directly by residents of the city of Ostrava, who were actively engaged in the entire project. Another part of the candidacy was presentations of the city outside the Ostrava region - Ostrava-based photographers in the circle of the Fiducia Gallery were presented in Brussels, and the best of Ostrava theatre, art, music and film early were showcased for four months in Prague.
